ZentrumNeueLichtkultur — Legal
Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This page explains which personal data is processed when you visit this website, and why.
In short: we count visits with a privacy-friendly statistics tool that runs on our own server, without cookies and without passing data on to third parties. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking services, we do not embed content from social networks, and we do not pass on data for advertising. What occurs for technical reasons is set out below.
This is a translation of our German privacy policy. If the two versions differ, the German version applies.
Controller
The controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:
Jürgen Tillmann
Founder, ZentrumNeueLichtkultur (ZNL)

Hosting and server log files
This website is hosted by STRATO AG, Pascalstraße 10, 10587 Berlin, Germany. STRATO processes the data on our behalf.
Each time a page is requested, the server processes connection data for technical reasons, for example the IP address, date and time, the page requested, and details of the browser and operating system. This is necessary to deliver the page, to find errors and to ward off attacks.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is the secure and stable operation of the website. The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer needed for this purpose.
Cookies
This website does not set any cookies that require consent and does not load any advertising scripts or third-party tracking scripts. The visitor statistics (see below) work without cookies. The one exception is the VG WORT reader counting (see below). We do not use a cookie banner.
Access to your device is governed by Section 25 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG). Access that is strictly necessary for technical reasons is permitted without consent under Section 25(2) TDDDG.
Fonts (Bunny Fonts)
For a consistent appearance we load fonts from Bunny Fonts, a service of the company bunny.net, based in Slovenia. When you open the page, your browser connects to the Bunny Fonts servers. Your IP address is transmitted in the process for technical reasons.
According to the provider, no personal data is stored and no logs are kept. More information is available in the bunny.net privacy policy.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is a fast, consistent and legible presentation of the page.
Visitor statistics (WP Statistics)
We want to know which content is read and which countries visits come from. For this we use the WordPress plug-in WP Statistics. It runs on our own web space at STRATO. The data is stored in the database of this website and is not passed on to third parties.
For each page view the following details are processed: the page requested, date and time, the page you came from, the type of browser and operating system, and the country derived from your IP address. The IP address is shortened and then converted into an irreversible code. The full IP address is not stored. No cookies or similar identifiers are set on your device for this.
Visitors who have switched on the „Do Not Track“ setting in their browser are not counted. Visits by logged-in administrators and by known search engine robots are excluded.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is an overview of the reach and use of our content. We keep the individual visit data for 180 days. After that it is deleted automatically, and only totals remain, for example how often a page was viewed in all. These totals do not allow conclusions about individual persons.
You can object to the counting by switching on „Do Not Track“ in your browser. Your further rights are set out below under „Your rights“.
Contact by email or form
If you write to us by email or through a contact form, we process your details in order to answer your enquiry. This is usually your name, email address and the content of your message. Providing this information is voluntary. Without it, however, we cannot answer your enquiry.
The contact form works without a plug-in and without external services. Your details are sent to us by email and are not stored in a database on this website. The email is delivered through the STRATO mail server. To protect against spam we use a hidden field and a control question. No cookies are set for this.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in answering enquiries. If your enquiry is aimed at a contract, it is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. We delete your data once your enquiry has been answered in full and no statutory retention duty applies.
Links to social networks
On this website we link to our profiles on social networks. These are simple links, not embedded plug-ins. No connection to the networks is made when this page loads.
Only when you click a link do you leave our website. From then on the network concerned processes your data under its own rules, especially if you are logged in there. The privacy information of the respective provider applies. Where we operate profiles there, case law may establish joint controllership with the provider.
Exception: VG WORT reader counting
Some texts on this website carry a counting pixel of VG WORT (METIS reader counting). It measures how often online texts are accessed. The counted accesses are the basis on which VG WORT can distribute remuneration under copyright law to authors.
The counting pixel is an ID assigned to a single text and is part of the page source. When such a text is opened, a client ID is also generated and a session cookie is set. This shows whether the text has already been opened within a browser session, so that repeat visits are not counted twice. The cookie is set only on these texts.
According to VG WORT, no personal data is processed in the process. The counting is carried out on behalf of VG WORT by Fifty5Blue Deutschland GmbH, Halbergstr. 4, 66121 Saarbrücken, Germany.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- access the data stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR)
- have inaccurate data corrected (Art. 16 GDPR)
- have your data erased (Art. 17 GDPR)
- restrict processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
- receive your data, or have it transmitted to another controller (Art. 20 GDPR)
- object to processing that is based on legitimate interests (Art. 21 GDPR)
- withdraw consent with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR)
There is no automated decision-making, including profiling.
An informal message to the address above is enough for any of these requests.
Complaint to a supervisory authority
You can lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The authority responsible for us is the Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Hessischer Beauftragter für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit), Gustav-Stresemann-Ring 1, 65189 Wiesbaden, Germany.
